Nature and nurture: Forming attitudes and behaviors

Nature and sustain: Forming mentalities and practices How far is that human emotions and practices are innate and how far would they say they are totally learned? This has been a disputable issue over century and it is currently appeared to be the nature versus sustain banter. By birth the equivalent, by custom diverse is a citation by Confucius which implies that all individual are normally similar, the propensities make every one of each person far separated and unique in relation to one another. Evolutional point of view which stresses on human family relationship and social viewpoint which centers around human decent variety are the two primary thoughts that overwhelming the considering human likenesses and contrasts in social orders these days. A few researchers held the sentiment that individuals act as they do on account of their hereditary cosmetics. This is the thing that we known as the idea of human conduct or disposition. While then again, some researcher guess that individuals think and act as per the manner in which they a re being educated and this is then known as the sustain of human conduct. A great deal of exploration have been done and demonstrated that the two sides are mostly right. Nature grants us with inborn characteristics and ability and support utilizes the earth variables to form and shape these hereditary propensities. As I would see it, I imagine that human practices are to a great extent molded by the earth, in other word sustain have a greater impact in structuring our character and conduct. Evolutional brain science recognizes that nature and support communicate to frame our conduct and character. Our natural attributes are not fixed outlines, their demeanor depend on the earth factors. One of the old style models is the trial done by an American clinician John Watson with a youthful vagrant name Albert. The outcome shows that fear could be clarified by old style molding, an ecological learning. The little Albert began crying each time he see a textured article since he has discovered that the fuzzy item will continually join by a noisy Bang stable that going to unnerve him. Other clinician like B.F. Skinner, the dad of social science has likewise done tests which created moving pigeons and demonstrated that human conduct could be molded in comparative manner to the creature. In addition, an examination distributed in New Scientist recommend that comical inclination isn't hereditarily inherent yet an educated attribute that prompt by individuals and social. Clearly, con dition unquestionably assumes a job in molding people conduct and attributes. In the event that this isn't the situation, the indistinguishable twins ought to be actually the equivalent hypothetically even they have been raised in better place. Be that as it may, examines uncover that they are never the very same despite the fact that they are a lot of the same in many perspectives. Social assorted variety is one of the prevailing elements that cause contrasts among individuals. There are a huge number of various culture exist over the world, social decent variety even exist inside country. Malaysia is a generally excellent model for social assorted variety inside country, in spite of the diverse of the physical look among Chinese, Indian and Malay, we are for the most part living under a similar situation and taking a similar food but then what make us so unmistakable from one another? Every one of us rehearses diverse culture and convention base on our race and religion, so base on various accept that we held, our conduct and thinking will never be the equivalent despite the fact that we are for the most part essentially living under a similar rooftop. Then again, the social assorted variety is significantly increasingly evident when individuals are from various piece of the world. The language, customs, culture, and expressive practices that change starting w ith one nation then onto the next nation make individuals not the same as one another. What's more, because of the variables above, individuals from various piece of the world could hold distinctive supposition about a similar issue. A few social orders don't wear shoes in house while different social orders rehearsing it; a few social orders consider investigating people groups eyes while talking is a demonstration of amiability while some different social orders consider such activity as discourteous. Notwithstanding that, fluctuate in child rearing style in collectivist culture and individualistic culture gives an away from of social assorted variety between various social orders. Child rearing style is enormously affected by the social setting of a specific culture in light of the fact that the social setting will have sway on guardians virtues, accept, and socialization objectives. Thus, what is consider typical in one culture possibly named as irregular at another culture. Stu dies have demonstrated that independence and cooperation social orders frequently hold various perspectives and worth when showing their youngster. The child rearing style in cooperation social orders underscore on acquiescence, self-control and the significance to do well in school. Also, the kids are relied upon to live with their folks until they get wed. While on the opposite side of the token, the guardians in the independence social orders treat their kids absolutely in a contrary manner. They urge their kids to voice out their conclusion and retaliate at whatever point the kids think they are right. The guardians in independence social orders, regularly the westerners give considerably more opportunity to their kids contrast with the guardians in cooperation social orders. Moreover, the offspring of the westerners are relied upon to live with their own when they arrive at the age of 18 since they are considered as grown-up and should have the option to remain on their own fee t. Consequently, we can envision that how enormous the distinctive is it when individuals are being raised with various culture. At some point, all the individuals act in a similar way under certain circumstance; this has nothing to do with our natural attribute yet is because of the accepted practice. Accepted practices are likewise one of the elements that control human practices and mentalities. Standards is the measures for acknowledged and expected conduct which society recommend as legitimate conduct. The vast majority of our practices are to a great extent shape by the general public and individuals only sometimes conflict with what the general public anticipate that us should do as we terrified that we will be dismissed by the general public. For example, stop when the traffic light turn red, open the entryway for an old woman, and stay silent in the library. Attempt to envision you talk noisily while everyone is quietly concentrating in the library, what will occur? Certainly everyone will take a gander at you one kind. Moreover, there are likewise standards that we share across various culture. Regar dless of what nation are we in and what culture are we rehearsing, we regard our companions security and don't reveal things said in certainty. This is known as all inclusive companionship standards. Other than that, there are additionally widespread status standards where individuals will talk in an increasingly conscious manner when conversing with a higher-status individuals, for instance speaker and talk in a progressively easygoing manner when the individual is same level as you, for instance companions. Ultimately, the most popular general standards would be the no-no against interbreeding. Sexual movement is denied among relative, neither guardians with kids, nor kin with one another. In this way, individuals will administer their conduct in any case their hereditary cosmetics so as to dodge dismissal from people in general. Without a doubt, hereditary cosmetics makes a colossal diverse among male and female. Male and female are destined to be truly unique, female is destined to be has 70% increasingly fat, 40% less muscle, 5 inches shorter and 40 pounds lighter than male. In any case, organic attributes just make diverse in genders not sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is the attributes individuals appoint to male and female. Once more, the general public appoint explicit sexual orientation job for people so the general public can work well with every one of the sex do their doled out job and obligation appropriately. Numerous individuals feel that men are destined to be progressively predominant and dispassionate and ladies are destined to be increasingly enthusiastic and delicate which I don't believe is valid. Because of the sex job assign to male and female, they are being raised in an alternate route since they were youthful. Men are believed to be progressively free, defensive, and dispassion ate in light of the fact that since hundreds of years prior men have been the leader of the house, they are mindful to take care of and ensure the family; while ladies are believed to be increasingly enthusiastic, delicate, and acquiescence since they are the person who going to bring forth infant, fare thee well and educate of the youngster. They don't should be solid on the grounds that their activity is remain and deal with everything in the house. In this manner, the support causes the two genders act in certain manner and I feel that men will stand apart to be increasingly predominant is because of the sexual orientation job that has been allocate to them. Men are constantly given need in the work place as their wages are consistently higher contrasted with the ladies who have same situation as them and they are regular of those in higher-status positions. In this way, it is unassailable that men have higher status than ladies in the general public and subsequently they are inc reasingly predominant. Then again ladies are progressively passionate appended and express sympathy all the more regularly is on the grounds that they are being raised and train in that manner. Thus, the enthusiastic characteristic inside ladies isn't intrinsic however learns through the families and condition. More or less, nature and sustain associate in shaping our perspectives and practices. In any case, similarly as I show the focuses over that in certainty sustain has a greater impact than nature in deciding human mentality and practices. On the off chance that human conduct can be decide with only natural qualities, there won't have such a significant number of unsolved inquiry and uncertainty about human reasoning and conduct, nor the ways out of brain research, human science, human sciences to consider the presence, culture, and conduct of individual. Nature and culture assume a significant job in the sustain some portion of embellishment our character and conduct. In the event that without the presence of social assorted variety, I accept that the entirety of the individuals around the globe will be a lot of likely act in a similar way as all of us has a similar culture and the natural characteristics just pl

Buyer behavior & integrated marketing Essay

Quickly sum up the showcasing issue/issue you have examined, and give a brief, however multi dimensional profile of the objective market. The issues on which this task centers around is in what manner can an association comprehend and impact the requests and needs of a buyer by utilizing purchaser dynamic model and the a choice arrangement model which enables an association to characterize a set grouping so as to anticipate its advertising and limited time methodology. The organization that has been explored upon in the examination paper is Automobili Lamborghini S. p. A that has as of late propelled its new SUV in the market which additionally happens to be the main SUV vehicle from the organization. The vehicle is known is Lamborghini SUV and there are a great deal of things that should be dealt with when presenting and promoting the vehicle in car field. A customer choice model will help the organization so as to perceive how a specific gathering of shoppers chooses for a specific item. What are their inclinations, their desires, how might they be pulled in, what is their taste, how well do they remember a specific item, their loyalties to a specific brand, their understanding from an item or showcasing technique and the information that they have. A buyer deliberately or unwittingly utilizing every one of these variables when going to purchase an item in this manner on account of Lamborghini SUV the shopper will again address himself on the previously mentioned grounds (MacKenzie 1986). As given in the examination done on the organization, the primary issues that the organization will in general distinguish from the shopper conduct are; 1. What is the item 2. What is the objective market 3. What are the substitutes 4. How does the cost and incentive for cash are corresponded 5. Is the item an extravagance thing 6. What kind of a choice succession model can be utilized Here is a concise response to the entirety of the inquiries referenced previously. As we as a whole realize that the item is an extravagance SUV that is being showcased just because by the organization, the organization needs to focus to a particular gathering with explicit attributes. These individuals should be wealthy by having great official level occupations or running organizations and having a group of 2 to 3 people. This proposes the focused on client ought to be all the more then 35 years old however not more than 45 in light of the fact that that goes past the energetic and quick qualities of the vehicle. The game and expedient attributes of the vehicle open two showcasing and focusing on passageways for the organization, that are, 1. officials and overseeing chiefs, (as talked about above) and 2. The current games vehicles customers who will at that point be separated for having or not having a preference for a games SUV. The issue is that the item that is being referred to in the exploration is very costly and accordingly it isn't at all like advertising coke. Clients should be taught and educated about the worth and worth of the item that ought to be other than the genuine cost of the vehicle (Bettman 1975). Concerning Blackwell, Miniard and Engel logical system, examine the conceivable purchasing conduct of your objective market, as far as level of critical thinking, and distinguish the likely effects on this choice procedure. You ought to likewise recognize any issues identified with the data preparing perspective, as this will advise task 3 regarding Blackwell, Miniard and Engel, the choice of any buyer depends on and includes at least two items that are substitutes to one another. For instance a shopper may pick between going out for a film or remaining at home, for this issue heading out to film and remaining at home will serve to be as substitutes to one another. So also, in this of Lamborghini, the customers have a scope of decisions. These decisions incorporate other lively SUV’s that as of now in the market by contender brands like BMW, Mercedes, Chrysler and others. Along these lines Lamborghini should investigate the issue that what do purchasers need in a SUV, how and what attributes they should feature to pull in their clients. Blackwell, Miniard and Engel advocate the way that there are various psychological procedures going on in a shopper mind while he settles on buy choices. These subjective choices can be distinguished as buyer information about the market and the item, convictions and recollections about data that a customer assembles from showcasing and special exercises going on around them, their intellectual procedure of perception and in conclusion their coordination psychological procedure in which a shopper assesses at least two decisions and short leans to one last decision. This decision is made based on certain social choices, hence the dynamic procedure of a purchaser can likewise be viewed as their choice arrangement. A Cognitive Process Model of Consumer Decision Making Lamborghini should remember that its customers will accumulate the greater part of the data from their environmental factors. Aside from their own promoting effort, the shoppers deliberately and unknowingly are picking up data about the lively vehicles, their models, data about different brands, execution of different SUV’s that come I a similar class of energetic vehicles and considerably more. Buyers are presented to TV appears, magazines, conversations and even get the opportunity to see these items live at show rooms that they effectively a great deal about the vehicle. Notwithstanding, an advertiser ought to consistently remember that so as to pull in a client and give him what he needs, the item ought to be promoted so that the purchaser legitimately sees what he needs in the item without him being investigating and contrasting and different brands(Roberts 2000). The promoting effort should feature the qualities of the item itself in the showcasing effort instead of letting the client accumulate the data on his own that can likewise prompt prospects that the client will most likely be unable to discover those attributes all alone. Same goes for Lamborghini, the organization must market the new SUV so that it features the two its energetic nature and its image of intensity of status so as to provide food both the objective markets that have just been distinguished in the past area. In addition an organization should likewise observe into how do various buyers will in general decipher the data and advertising material that is made accessible to the clients. This information must be planned so that it isn't in opposition to any kind of a client on the grounds that each potential client may decipher the data in accordance with his own inclinations and tastes. For instance, those clients who are business and corporate administrators need the vehicle to be a superficial point of interest for them, in this way a crusade ought not just provide food the dashing and game nature of the vehicle since that will leave a casual picture over the formal and status cognizant clients. Subsequently the translation of clients ought to likewise be considered by Lamborghini when thinking of an advertising plan. Also Lamborghini ought to present the item in the market that it leaves an enduring impression in the memory of the potential buyers. This is on the grounds that the purchasers that Lamborghini is intending to target are the ones who won't consider whether to purchase or not to purchase an item. They will in general go to purchase just when they have to purchase an item. For this they should have a picture of Lamborghini in their brains that they can review when they feel the requirement for an item. Additionally, as the item that Lamborghini is advertising is an item that the customers don't accepting rapidly because of its value, in this way over this dynamic arrangement and procedure of the purchasers, Lamborghini ought to likewise give the shoppers new data and attributes of the vehicle so as to reestablish the old data in the brains of buyers alongside keeping them progressively educated and refreshed about the item. This should effortlessly be possible with an arranged promoting effort through which new data and methodologies can be actualized when the organization wants to execute them(Moner 1973). The joining and assessment process is put away in a consumer’s memory and in this manner more often than not it is seen that these assessments at that point will in general transform into mentalities and convictions of a purchaser. These convictions and disposition are of both the natures, they can be changed and now and again they can't be changed. Hence the advertiser need to concentrate on these convictions and mentalities on the grounds that essentially these are the components that impact a customer’s intension in his dynamic procedure. Along these lines Lamborghini can utilize this data of client from multiple points of view that is; they can investigate why brand faithful shoppers go for a specific brand, for what reason do they abhor another brand and what are their convictions and mentalities towards the item on the off chance that they don’t go with it. For instance, a few clients may be faithful to Lamborghini car vehicles and they probably won't go for a SUV since they may believe that they are not that quick s the car, consequently, the Lamborghini can utilize this data by instructing its clients and potential objective market that the Lamborghini SUV is as quick as a typical car and can feature additional focal points of the SUV then the ordinary car. The organization can likewise advertise its solid look and ground-breaking ascribes so as to pull in those clients who are searching for energetic SUV’s because of superficial point of interest both in an out of the workplace, that is in the corporate world and when going with a family(Woodside 1992).

How Do You Hold Onto What You Read

How Do You Hold Onto What You Read This is a guest post by Ashley Riordan.  Ashley  is a graduate student in California who works in a library, makes videos about books at  climbthestacks.com, and blogs about reading, writing, and travel at  ashleyriordan.com. Follow her on  Twitter  @climbthestacks. _________________________ I am convinced that every book I love is going to be the one that changes my life. I burn through the pages, covering them with black ink, underlining every sentence. I cannot believe how specifically this book applies to my life or how it is rearranging my normal pattern of thought. I finish it in a hurry and convince all of my friends they have to read it right away. Then I put the book on a shelf and almost immediately forget about it. Forget is a strong word. I remember that I loved the book and even continue to recommend it to other people, but what was specific about it and what nobody but those who read it could understand is quickly lost to me. Fiction has a way of taking over my life and coloring the way I see everything for a brief period of time, and later it is hard to even recall those experiences in any detail. I recently read a collection of essays by Jonathan Franzen called How to Be Alone that gave me an entirely new way to think about what it means to be a reader. I was so full of ideas as I was reading and forming quick connections with other things I had both read and experienced. But when I sat down to write about the book weeks later, I could no longer remember what had been so profound about it and was at a loss to explain the experience I had reading it. I am generally bothered by how much of life we lose, either because we never notice it or quickly forget. So in a desperate attempt to at least hold on to what I can, I put effort into remembering what I read. The easiest and most obvious way I remember what I read is by keeping my books. I have moved several times in the last ten years and have a penchant for getting rid of everything I own, but I keep most of what I read because seeing a book on my shelf helps me to recall the experience I had reading it and looking at the pages to see what I underlined reminds me more specifically why the book mattered to me. The book itself serves as a reminder of both experiences and ideas. Last year I started keeping a public quote blog. It started as an effort to share what I was reading, but for me it is a way of holding on to the passages from each book that I find most meaningful. I can search by topic, author, or book, but my favorite feature is that when other tumblr users share a quote, I get a notification and am reminded of a random excerpt I have probably forgotten. The best way I have found to hold on to what I read is to talk about what I read. If I articulate my thoughts on a book, they have a much better chance of staying with me.  Being forced to talk and write about what I have read is what I miss most about the classroom. It took me a while to realize that the internet was interested in having those same discussions if I just made the effort to express my thoughts on a book, whether in writing or on video. While sharing and getting feedback is the fun part, it is meaningful to me to have a record of my reading experiences. Even with these efforts, a lot of what I have read is still lost to me. The book I thought would change my life is robbed of attention by the next I am sure will change my life. I love too many books to keep them all at the front of my mind. But these small little things I do are a way of calming my anxiety about the way life moves too quickly, and they allow me to fully experience what I have read and re-experience a book whenever I choose.

Although Singapore’s government has the authority to block, censor and control about private information on the internet, there are still some problems about the internet. Many teenagers in Singapore use technologies especially internet in a bad way. Some use internet in order to hack, gamble, prostitute through chatting room. This indicates that internet has an influence to young people today. The national internet advisory council of Singapore, the authority that controls the usage of internet, had held a project to campaign teenagers in Singapore to use internet in a valuable way. The name of this project is Cyber wellness. Michael Yap, the leader of this campaign said that teenagers spend the most of time playing game online, surfing internet and chatting, including the young people who have not had enough maturity. There are many danger related to the internet. In the same way in United State of America (USA), most youths spend a lot of time surfing internet. Their attitude is that the internet brings numerous advantages to them. However, internet does not bring only positive things, there are also negative things from the internet. USA is the developed country. Many authorities play the role of censorship on the internet. Programs such as censorware or web filtering software are used in some institutions. The influence of internet in USA is mostly internet addiction. Internet seems to separate youths from the real world. Almost communication is communicated through the website, such as Facebook, Yahoo, MSN, Skype and Myspace. They hardly communicate directly. This might loses their sensibility, feeling and emotion in relationship between interlocutors. Another media that obviously influence young people is the television. The teenagers will imitate their idol on the TV shows. Unfortunately, quite a few things that teenagers copy from their favorite idol are not really good. Fashion is one thing that stars and celebrities will be the model of dressing, hair style even though speech and behavior. Nowadays, K-POP or Korean Popular, the product from Korean, had put on the market all around Asia especially South East Asia. Singapore is one of these countries. Almost teenagers in Singapore copy the image from their Korean idols. They change their hair cut and use Korean product such as pencil case that has pictures of their idols screened on it. K-POP becomes the new attitude for the teenagers, they thinks that they are cool when they copy the Korean style. It is not only that, the fashion is changed all the time. Thus, the teenagers, who want to be up-to-date, have to buy new clothes all the time. This shows that the TV shows have an effect on the teenagers’ popularity. USA also has problems about TV shows too. It includes music and also movies that broadcast on television. Violence is one of the influences that have an effect on American youth. Rock stars are good examples. Rock Music began popular because of the distinctive clothes, hair style mixed with the line of the song that excites audience. Many people consider Rock Star as a hard-drinking, hard-living character. Drugs were also a big part of rock music life style. Moreover, the characteristic and environment of rock stars seem to relate with violence. The young people will gradually receive this violence. In America, many teenagers change their hair style and tint their hair follow the famous rock star. These are only a little part of the influence of mass media. In different countries, there are difference kinds of influence, depends on the environment and value of each country. The mass media has positive and negative influence. Everyone has a role to prevent the bad influence and encourage the good one. Background of the study Formerly perceived as an activity that only large companies in developed economies engage in, the reality is, success of every organisation, whether large or small is dependent on building a relationship with their customers (Kotler, 2002). Small businesses have used promotion to raise customer’s awareness and interest, announce new products, publicise an improvement and stay competitive (Garity, 2010). We will write a custom essay sample on Mass Media or any similar topic only for you Order Now The more people respond to promotion, the better it is for the business and the society in large. Promotion allows customers compare and contrast products and services to ensure they get the best (Kotler, 2002)Kayode (2007) defines promotion as the conscious effort that involves setting up mediums that a business can utilize in persuading customers to buy products or services, or even promote a concept. Promotion as a means to communicated existed in pre-historical times. Egyptian papyrus, waxed boards and roadside rocks were used in the ancient times to present upcoming sales to the citizens (Feofanov, 2004). Technological advancements gave way to expansion of product promotion through mass media. In 20th century, the era of industrial and production though technology and innovation to develop sophisticated and organized means of communicating with potential customers. With the help of radio, billboards, flyers, television, magazines, newspapers and brochures, small businesses were able to to create awareness of their products (Patino ; Pitta 2012) and communicate with their customers. Breirley (1995) explains further that small businesses also engage in promotion with an objective to influence behaviours, appeal to customers as well as motivate them to buy or not buy certain products. In developing countries, broadcast and print media remain the most preferred means of promotion due to its nature of information richness whose format allows text, animation and audio (Murmaan, 2013). According to Marmori (2009) radio and television give businesses the possibility to reach a sufficient amount of targeted audience as well as a high frequency of words in the message distributed. They have the ability to reach even illiterate people. Television and radio transmits locally, regionally as well as internationally giving the promotion a widest coverage. Although the most popular, radio and television are expensive media for promotion of products and services in comparison to short exposure time of their message. One’s message has to be brief, and sometimes considered a nuisance when aired in the middle of a program. With the creation of World Wide Web in the early 1990s, internet as mechanism of disseminating information between individuals, regardless of their geographical destination has had a landmark effect on how small businesses are promoting their products/ services (Leiner, Cerf, Clark, Kahn, 2017). Formerly regarded as a communication tool, internet in now a certifiably revolutionary technology that has enabled businesses a faster and better two-way communication between them and their customers. In the first era, internet belonged to individuals, an aspect that has long changed as businesses have taken over and are using social media to create awareness of their products or services (Kaplain Heinlein, 2010). The revolution in technology has changed how businesses are establishing and maintaining relationships with their customers (Breirley, 1995). Through websites and social media and increase of mobile phone, both small businesses and customers have a quick access to information, low promotional cost, multimedia enriched and limitless space (Stojkovi?, 2012). Internet has offered a global platform to sell and buy products and services for small business formerly limited by lack of sufficient budgets. In Tanzania, many small businesses are integrating social media as part of the promotion plan. Ayman’s Investment is a one such business that engages social media via Instagram to promote its services and products which includes a hair and beauty and bridal clothes respectively. Social Media Buettner (2016) describes social media as computer affiliated tools that enables users to share information in virtual networks, faster and effective. When adopted in business, Social Media offers a variety of benefits and opportunities for businesses to promote their businesses (Celine, 2012). Therefore, businesses cannot afford to bypass Social Media. Mehmood ; Shabbir (2016) acknowledges that indeed social media has transformed not only social interaction but the way of business. Whether websites, social networks or blogs, people are sharing their experiences and information. Smith ;Treadaway (2010) observed that the rise of social media has more or less coincided with the decline of traditional media with its acceptance rate continuing to increase as compare to traditional media. Social media allow users to create content by taking and sharing photos of their products as well as write captions to compliment the photos (Bui, 2014). Ben Long, a photographer and writer highlights the use of photos as a powerful tool to evoke a potent experience to viewers (Long, 2011). Through social media, businesses can generate, authentic conversations between them and customers and they are sharing their thoughts and experiences at no cost at all, unlike word-of-mouth which is limited in reach and broadcast media that is expensive (Evans,2008). They include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and SnapChat. Although less popular that Facebook, Instagram is rapidly becoming one of today’s top choices among small businesses. Launched in October 2010, Instagram had 800 million active subscribers in September, 2017. With 7 million internet users in Tanzania, small businesses are using Instagram as an online mobile photo, video-sharing and social networking service enabling them take pictures and videos, and share them other users who are potential and existing customers (Gross, 2010). Both small and large businesses are using Instagram is an ideal promotion tool (Keating, 2015). Small Investments Small Investments also referred as Small Businesses are also referred to as Small and Medium Enterprises or Micro, Medium Enterprises. In Tanzania, small investments are described as those with the ability to engage or employ up to 4 with a capital amounting up to Tshs.5.0 million (SME policy, 2002). Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Commerce estimate that at least 95% of business in Tanzania are small businesses and contribute about 35% of the country’s Gross Development Product (GDP) making small business a crucial subject of discussion. This study is determined to find out how and why small businesses are adopting social media as a promotion tool. Essay About Terrorism Example For Students

Essay About Terrorism Terrorism by nature is difficult to define. Acts of terrorism conjure emotionalresponses in the victims as well as in the practitioners. No two writers agreeon what is terrorism. Even the U.S. government cannot agree on one singledefinition. The old adage, One mans terrorist is another mans freedomfighter is still alive and well today (Terrorism Research Center:Definitions 1). Although many people believe that terrorism is evil, it ismerely misunderstood because there is no set definition. Terrorist areresponsible to most of the freedom movements in every country. Terrorist haveused violence to get their point across to the public. These acts are oftennecessary for the success of the movement or cause. The use of this violence canbe justified in several ways. You cant make an omelet without breaking someeggs has been used by terrorist to describe their actions. Terrorism has beenused by governments and against them. It has been used as part of a campaign byguerrillas who have widespr ead support and by small groups. Terrorism has beenused in societies where grievances can be expressed freely and where free speechis suppressed. In a well organized guerrilla campaign, for example, the maingoal might be to destroy the governments military forces. The violence islimited to acts which will achieve that objective. This might be destroying afactory which is making arms, or putting out of action part of the governmentarmy, or bombing an airfield so that it cannot be used by government aircraft. In some cases, the use of terrorism appears to be a reaction to thedisintegration of law and order. A stable society has normally evolved peacefulways of keeping order and handling disputes between its members withoutviolence. Once law and order breaks down, as they do in civil wars, members ofsociety have to defend themselves in different ways. There may be in a situationwhere government forces are using terrorism and guerrilla forces the samemethods in return. Other groups in society start using violence to defend thisright and so a climate of terror emerges. What little law and order remains ismaintained solely by the strongest groups using fear (Freeman 43). Terrorism hasbeen used by groups of the right in an attempt to uphold the established system. In Northern Ireland Protestant extremist groups have used terrorism againstthose fighting for a united Ireland. There have been similar groups in Italy andLatin America Fighting for the return to more authoritarian and conservativeforms of government. There are many different kinds of terrorism, this makesdefining the word difficult. Guerrilla warfare is used in most revolutions andis a form of terrorism, whether it is indiscriminate terrorism (example: thebombing of a public places) or terrorism aimed only upon the government. Terrorism can also be used by a government to control its people. War betweencountries is a place were terrorism is used immensely in order to strike fearinto an enemy (The Encyclopedia America 523). Terrorism is often a weapon oflast resort. Most revolutions began as guerrilla terrorism. The AmericanRevolution started out as terrorist acts against England. The Boston TeaParty is a prime example of terrorism. Colonial revolutionaries sneakedaboard an English Tea Merchant Ships, where they threw hundreds if not thousandsof dollars worth of tea into the Atlantic Ocean. Americans today think of thatincident as a stride to freedom, but the English look at it as the beginning ofcountless terrorist acts. The Law and Order Maintenance Act of 1962 in Rhodesia(now Zimbabwe) included among its definitions of terrorist as anyone who went onstrike if an essential service was put at risk as a result. These strikes led tothe revolution of the Zimbabwe people from the Rhodesia (English) government( Freeman 21). In South Africa, the burning of the Identification cards and thebombing of several military bases by the A.N.C. (African National Congress) wasthe beginning of an independence movement against the Afrikaners. Terrorism isoften the start of a revolution that makes the country and even the world abetter place. The IRA (Irish Republican Army) would argue that they too arefighting a colonial government, the British government, which is continuing tooccupy part of Ireland (Freeman 41). One of the most important duties of anygovernment is to maintain law and order. It usually does this through a systemof laws which are enforced by a police force (Terrorism Research Center:Information Terrorism 3). In democratic countries, these

In The Story, The Grapes Of Wrath, By John Steinback, There Are Many E

In the story, The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinback, there are many examples of togetherness and guidance. There is a small amount of individualism in the story, but there is more acts of kindness and warmth, than any displays of independence. The Joad family acts as a whole unit instead of many individuals. They help and assist others in need, even though they are in need as well. They would rather suffer themselves than for someone else to undergo suffering and endless pain. They would give up anything they have for someone to be happy and at peace. The Joad family is very loving, helpful, and does not show any signs of selfishness or greed. While the Joad family is on their journey to the west, they do not have much food or money, but they still did anything to help others out. For example, one day they saw another family on the side of the road and stopped to help them. They ended up taking the family and making an even larger family unit by combining the families. Each member associated and talked to one other, which made the time they were all together pleasant and helpful. They all used each other's knowledge to help them along with their journey. Even though both families had never met during their life, they came together and helped each other out in times of need. Another genuine characteristic of the Joad family, is their sense of putting themselves in danger before others. A family member would rather be hurt or in danger themselves, than for their loved ones to be in trouble. An example of this trait is when Ma rebels once Tom and Casy said they'd stay and let the family go on. She said that if she went, then they would have to beat her to go, because she was not going to let the family split apart. This shows her great concern for the family to stay together and how she will inflict pain upon herself in order for happiness. Throughout the journey, they find out they do not have enough money or food and times are really tough for them. However, they are still very giving people and has a desire to help the strangers that accompanied them along the trip. Once the Wilson's depart from the Joad family to go their own way along the trail, they offer to give them some money and food. However, the Wilson's said they could not accept it, even though they were in desperate need. They knew the Joad's did not have much money as well and did not want to take it from their family. Even after this, Ma and Pa Joad laid out two dollars and some pork for the Wilson's. This shows that the Joad's are willing to give up what they have for someone else. Even if it means they have to starve, it does not bother them and they will go out of their way to assist others in need. In this story, the Joad family was very polite and helpful to others. Even though they did not have much money or food, they definitely had a sense of he lpfulness and genuine caring for others. They helped the Wilson family, who was in need of guidance, by traveling along with them and giving them food and money. The Joad's also put others before themselves and tried the best they could to assist their friends who were once strangers. All of these examples of aide are strong evidence that this book is not about individualism, but the simple act of being there for others.

10 Types of Wordplay

10 Types of Wordplay 10 Types of Wordplay 10 Types of Wordplay By Mark Nichol Humorous works of fiction are easily enlivened when the author resorts to one or more of the following categories of playing with prose: 1. Acronyms: An acronym is an abbreviation consisting of a string of initial letters pronounced as a word. Fictional examples, such as SPECTRE (for â€Å"Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion†), from the James Bond novels and films, and VILE (for â€Å"Villains’ International League of Evil†), from the Carmen Sandiego computer-game series, can be serious or humorous depending on formation and intent. 2. Anagrams: An anagram is simply a word with its letters scrambled in a new order. Many humorous phrases have been derived by scrambling expressions or people’s names, such as forming â€Å"I am a weakish speller† from â€Å"William Shakespeare.† (Anagram generators can be found on the Internet.) 3. Chronograms: A chronogram is a phrase in which constituent letters also express a number, as in â€Å"My Day Closed Is In Immortality,† an epitaph for England’s Queen Elizabeth I in which the first letter of each word corresponds to a Roman numeral; the numerical sequence, MDCIII, is translated as 1603, the date of her death. A weak variant is a habit of filmmakers (or, more accurately, film marketers) of replacing one or more letters in a movie title with a number vaguely resembling the letter or otherwise related, as in the title of the 1995 crime thriller Seven, represented on posters as Se7en. 4. Initialisms: Initialisms are distinguished from acronyms by the fact that the constituent letters are pronounced individually, rather than sequentially sounded as if they were a single word. Many popular social-networking terms such as LOL (â€Å"laugh out loud†) and ROTFL (â€Å"roll on the floor laughing†) are initialisms; so is TEOTWAWKI (â€Å"the end of the world as we know it†). 5. Lipograms: A lipogram is a composition deliberately consisting of words lacking a letter of the alphabet. Such a work is more or less easily accomplished depending on the letter selected for omission; many writers, astonishingly, have written novels produced without recourse to use of a common letter such as e or t. 6. Malapropisms: This type of wordplay refers to misuse of one word for another by those too ignorant to recognize the error. It’s named after Mrs. Malaprop, a character in an eighteenth-century play who is notorious for such unwitting utterances, as exemplified by the character’s line â€Å"She’s as headstrong as an allegory on the banks of Nile.† Shakespeare also employed such humor, most notably in lines by the character Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing such as â€Å"Our watch, sir, have indeed comprehended two auspicious persons.† 7. Mondegreens: Misunderstood song lyrics are often referred to as mondegreens; the term itself is based on a mishearing of the phrase â€Å"laid him on the green.† A more recent example is â€Å"Excuse me while I kiss this guy,† rather than â€Å"Excuse me while I kiss the sky,† from the Jimi Hendrix song â€Å"Purple Haze.† 8. Onomatopoeias: Onomatopoeias (the term is from the Greek words for â€Å"make† and â€Å"name†) are words that imitate sounds, such as splash or bump. A notable example of an onomatopoeic proper name is that of the Houyhnhnms, the sentient, civilized horses from Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels. 9. Portmanteaus: Portmanteaus, words creating by combining two words and their meanings into one, were named and popularized by Lewis Carroll. He coined several, such as slithy (from lithe and slimy); more recent examples include brunch and smog. (Carroll named the form of wordplay after a word for a suitcase with two separate compartments.) 10. Spoonerisms: The term for expressions in which initial letters, or sometimes entire syllables or words, are transposed is based on the name of a British clergyman supposedly prone to such utterances, though many attributed to him were only inspired by him. Among them is â€Å"a well-boiled icicle† for â€Å"a well-oiled bicycle†; John Lennon is credited with coining a variation on â€Å"Time heals all wounds†: â€Å"Time wounds all heels.† Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Careers in the EPA Research Proposal Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Careers in the EPA - Research Proposal Example the environmental impacts of pollutive industries led to a widespread call for sustainable development which takes into account the environmental and social aspects of economic development; an offshoot is the requirement of environmental impact assessments for development projects deemed to cause substantial ecological impacts. Large dams were subjected to review particularly as dams inadvertently alter a stream’s morphology, and subsequently the surrounding landscape as well as its biota, which several studies contend. Large dams inundate a large area and the environmental repercussions redound to adjacent ecosystems. An analysis of the environmental effects of dams as obtained by scientific studies is the objective of this report. Specifically, this paper proposes to assess the available research base on the environmental impacts of dams; the methods applied to obtain data on environmental effects; and the implications of the revealed impacts on dam development and management in the context of sustainable development. Data sources will include the review of selected publications on the positive and negative effects of dams on the geophysical environment and on the affected biota, and analyses of impact assessment studies. This evaluation and studies of the same nature are significant, urgent, and timely because it is only recently that the full impacts of dams have been felt due to the compounding nature of such effects. Looking at this effects from various perspectives is also relevant because there are varied scopes a dam alters the environment – global, regional, and local. Especially where local impacts are considered, one dam’s effect does not necessarily mean the same effect on another owing to the differences in their biologic and geographic components. Burke, M., Jorde, K., & Buffington, J.M. (2009). Application of a hierarchal framework for assessing environmental impacts of dam operation: Changes in streamflow, bed mobility, and

Case study histology 2 Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Histology 2 - Case Study Example The colon is also masculine to aid in movement of food through the esophagus. The muscles contract and relax rhythmically to facilitate peristalsis. The colon is also long this ensures nutrients remain in the colon for long period to maximize absorption. The reddish appearance of the colon indicates presence of blood capillaries. Capillaries bring in oxygen for oxidation and takes away absorbed food. (Odze & Goldblum 2009, p. 10) It has a pouch like projection called cecum that collects undigested food from the ileum. It is the first section of the large intestine. Cecum has a valve that separates it from the ileum. The valve regulates the amount of food getting into the cecum and prevents backflow of food into the ileum. The main function of the cecum is to absorb water and salts. The epithelium of the colon is thin. It enables food to diffuse through the colon at a higher rate. The colon also has gland that resembles test tubes on their walls called crypts of Lieberkà ¼hn. The crypts are embedded in the epithelial lining to enable them secrete enzymes which in turn secrete mucous to lubricate the colon. In addition to this, crypts secrete hydrochloric Acid which kills any bacteria in the nutrients (Odze & Goldblum 2009, p. 66). The colon has a lining called mucosa. Mucosa secretes mucus which lubricates the colon to aid in peristalsis. The epithelium lining of the colon also has various goblet cells which secrete mucus. The mucus is used neutralize acid in the stomach. In addition to this, the mucus hinders enzymes from digesting the internal walls of the colon (Wolff 2010, p. 33) Crohns disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease. It mostly affects the intestine though it can affect any part from the mouth to anus. It is associated with the fistulae and ulcers. Crohns disease compels the immune system to attack healthy cells within gastrointestinal tract leading to inflammation. It is usually classified as

Effect of Ethylene on Musa Acuminata Ripeness

Effect of Ethylene on Musa Acuminata Ripeness Introduction The purpose of the experiment is to determine whether the amount of ethylene would affect the rate of ripeness of Musa acuminata. It is hypothesized that the amount of ethylene does affect the rate of ripeness of M. acuminata. The more the ethylene, the faster M. acuminata will ripen. This is because it stimulates plant response when it gets to the plant tissue. It is hypothesized that the banana with two slices of apple will ripen the fastest, followed by the banana with one slice of apple, and finally the control group, which consists of only a banana and no apples. Ethylene, also known as ethene, is a naturally occurring gas that is produced by ripening fruits. The chemical formula for ethylene is C2H4. Ethylene, which is shown in Figure 1, is a member of the alkene family, which includes any chemical that contains two carbons connected by a double bond and two other single bonds can be formed for each carbon (1, 2, 3). Ethylene can be used intentionally to ripen fruits. Some characteristics of ethylene are that its vapors from a boiling liquid are lighter than air and thus can rise easily, that it can easily be ignited, that it is not toxic at all (4). Ethylene affects plants by influencing plants growth, development, and how long they can be stored. External sources of ethylene can also have similar influence on fruits. A fruit produces significantly more ethylene during some stages of its development and when there are abiotic or biotic changes happening to it. A plant is affected and influenced when it is exposed to ethylene in the environment surrounding it or when it is close to a fruit that is producing excessive amounts of ethylene. The main purpose of having external sources of ethylene is to ripen fruits (1). Ethylene can only be produced under a condition where there is enough oxygen and not too much of carbon dioxide. The same condition must happen for ethylene to influence the fruits. Ethylene is spread throughout the fruit by diffusion. The rate of the production and diffusion depends what the stage of plant development that the plant is going through (1). Climacteric fruits, such as tomato, apple, pear, and melon, are those that increase the amount of ethylene significantly during the process of ripening. On the other hand, non-climacteric fruits, such as grape, orange, and pineapple, are those fruits that do not produce an excessive amount of ethylene during the process of ripening (1). Ethylene can only affect nearby tissue when it is produced in climacteric fruits or fruits that are injured. Examples of injured fruits or vegetables are when they are peeled, sliced, cut, or any kind of preparation or processing actions. For non-climacteric fruits that are not ripening yet, ethylene can reduce or slow down the production of itself. That means that when it is not ripening, a fruit that follows that criteria will not ripen so fast since the production of ethylene is stopped by ethylene itself. When climacteric fruits start to ripen, the ethylene leads to its own synthesis and a lot more of ethylene is produced. Because of this, the concentration of ethylene in the fruit increases rapidly and reaches such a high level that external ethylene source no longer has effects on the fruit (1). There is little effect when the external source of ethylene for fruits like apples and bananas is reduced, because the fruit itself has the ability to resist the diffusion and the fruit can produce ethylene at a very fast rate that exceeds the rate of diffusion of ethylene leaving the fruit to the surrounding (1). External ethylene source includes other plants, smoke, compressed ethylene gas, and chemicals that release ethylene. When a fruit is has just started to ripen, the concentration of ethylene in the fruit is low. At this time, reducing external ethylene source helps to slow down or delay the process of ripening significantly. When a fruit is wounded, which means that it is damaged, the rate of the production of ethylene increases. This leads to the fruit ripening earlier than normal or at a faster rate. The interactions between ethylene and the plants environment is also shown in Figure 2 (1). Ethylene production can be accelerated when there is external influence, such as injuries or wounds on the fruit. This causes the fruit to ripen faster since more ethylene was being produced. However, the result of external influence and internal development ultimately results in the same thing causing the fruit to ripen faster. As a result, it is difficult to tell if the fruit was ripening at a faster rate because it was damaged or if it was at that stage of plant development (5). External and internal ethylene sources like pollution, ethylene in the surrounding, ethylene production, and stress, both abiotic and biotic, all affect the plant tissue. When the plant tissue is influenced, it stimulates plant responses, such as producing excessive amounts of ethylene to start the ripening process (1). One way that this plant response can be delayed or slowed down is to store the fruit in a place like the refrigerator, where the temperature would be low so that the quality of the fruit can be preserved. Since ethylene can only be produced under a condition where there is enough oxygen and not too much carbon dioxide, lowering the amount of oxygen around the fruit can also slow down the process of ripening. In addition, the rate of the process of ripening can also be reduced by increasing the amount of carbon dioxide around the area so that ethylene cannot be produced as effectively (1). Ethylene in bananas causes the banana to lose chlorophyll and turn into a yellow color from a green color. When ethylene is removed or reduced, the color changes can be delayed and the fruit can be stored for a longer period of time (1). Ethylene can cause a fruit to be softened and produce a different or stronger aroma, texture, and taste. Usually, ripened fruits become sweeter than unripe fruits. In addition, the difference of the amount of ascorbic acid between ripened fruits and unripe fruits is not very significant (1). Quinceaneras Are Not So Bad

Are Not So Bad Girls always want a big party for that special age, Like when you are fifteen, sixteen, eighteen, and twenty-one. If you're Mexican, then you have a acquaintance which is when you are fifteen. My whole family is all about that tradition. They like to throw acquaintance parties to any girl that we have in our family. It has been an ongoing culture for years now but, I almost broke that tradition. I don't like acquaintances even if it is all fancy and pretty. I would rather go out for a very nice dinner on my fifteenth airhead. My mom had big plans for me and, for my acquaintance. Ever since I was thirteen she would plan all these things for the acquaintance; even If It was two years away. She would always ask me what Is my favorite color, what kind of design do I want, and what cake flavor do I like. I would always answer questions but, with sadness because, I really TLD want a acquaintance. I wanted something simple that I really liked Instead. I didn't want to tell my mom that I didn't want a acquaintance because, I was afraid to hurt her feelings, and the culture she has had went throughout her whole family. In acquaintances you have to dance for your guests with your chameleons, and dams. Chameleons and dams are partners that dance with you in the surprise dance. Dancing is the one thing I hate the most in acquaintances. I am very bad at it, and it makes me nervous and shy to dance In front of a lot of people. I ask my mom If I can skip that at least, but she always tells me that dancing is the most Important part of quince, and It keeps the guests motivated and Interested in the party. She Likes to have her parties big with halls decorated In big decorations, and that's also something I hate because I Like impel things.I never understood why having a acquaintance was so important to my family. I asked my mom why was it so important, and she said, â€Å"Everyone in your family has had one, including me, and I don't want to stop now. † I r eally don't want to hurt my mom, or even brake this tradition, so I am deciding to have a acquaintance. I am planning to have it simple, and nice. My mom was a little disappointed because, she already had big plans for the decorations, and the hall, but she said it was okay that I kept it simple, because it is my birthday.I understood that having a acquaintance meant a lot to her, so I wanted to help her feel happy. After I had my acquaintance party, I realized why everyone wanted to have one. The party was really amazing and fun. The hall that I had was really big, and beautiful. Also, the decorations at the party were really pretty and made the hall stand out more. I do regret having a bigger party with more family, and the way mom had planned, but I did enjoy it. I got closer to all of my family members we invited, and brake ever, and the family will all now us by our acquaintance culture.

Why You Want to Join

Welcome parents and guardians. My name isaosfh. I am a student in Ib. Ib is an intense academic program that prepares students for success in university and life in general. Every one of us has goals that they want to accomplish and succeed; Ib helps push our limits and inspires us to reach those goals. Being in high school is different compared to middle school. It has it’s ups and downs. At times the homework load is heavy, and at times it’s not. However, with the right time management and organization skills your child will be just fine. Organization is an important skill you need not only in school but through out life. During middle school you only had one or two assignments you needed to complete, but high school is very different. If you don’t organize your time well, you will be stressed out from the homework load. During the first three weeks when school began, it was a big shock. It felt as if I had lost my social life, and was spending hours staying up late trying to complete projects. This was because I had bad work habits and left everything to the last minute. Because of my disorganization, my marks weren’t as high as they could be, and I wasn’t living up to my full potential. Then one day my teacher explained to us of things we could do to create more time for ourselves. The main thing she kept saying over and over was organization. So slowly, I started to improve my work habits. My first step was using my agenda. It is now my best friend, with it I know exactly what homework we have and I can record the time periods for how long I want to work on the assignment. Instead of doing the assignment all at the last minute, I’ve started breaking it up into little pieces. I am now not as overwhelmed, and I know I’m working harder then ever. By organizing my time I have eliminated any distractions I had in the past, and complete my homework it on time and with care. I now work more efficiently and am able to accomplish tasks. I also have regained my social life!
